Ambassador William Hanna attended the 'WANNA' Garo Festival
ON 8-9 December 2011 the Ambassador William Hanna together with colleagues of the EU Delegation attended as Guest of Honour, the 'Wanna' Garo Festival. Please find his speech here.
Wanna is the most significant festival of the Garo Indigenous community, performed after the harvesting is over. It is a 'Thanksgiving' ceremony to Misi Saljang, also known a Pattigipa Ra'ronjipa (The Great Giver) for having blessed the human being with rich harvest of the season.
