Welcome to the website of the European Union's Delegation to Bangladesh.
The European Commission Delegation to Dhaka opened in 1982 with the objective of fostering closer ties between the European Community and Bangladesh in the fields of development and economic co-operation.
Today, European Union has become the biggest export market for Bangladesh: in 2010 the country's exports to the EU reached a record level of more than 6 billion Euros (approaching 8 billion US dollars). This represented about half of Bangladesh's total exports.
At the same time, annual aid from the European Union to Bangladesh is approaching 150 million Euros (some 1500 crore Taka); in addition, a number of the EU Member States between them provide some 250 million Euros through their bilateral aid programmes for Bangladesh.
